In addition to the many beautiful beaches and award-winning vineyards and restaurants, Waiheke Island has many other attractions, experiences and activities that are guaranteed to keep you entertained regardless of whether you’re staying for the weekend or for a long, relaxing holiday.

Zip along Waiheke Island on the Ecozip, have a go at archery or clay-bird shooting at Wild on Waiheke, visit the Waiheke Community Art Gallery in Oneroa or jump on a horse and trek around the island with a Horse Tour. There are many scenic walks on Waiheke, ranging from easy strolls to more challenging walks that require a reasonable level of fitness.

On a Saturday head over to the Ostend's market it's a great place to see the island's colourful characters and buy local food, produce and art.

Little Oneroa beach offers a great place for the children to swim and play in the playground and if you get hungry head across the street for fish and chips or an ice-cream. There really is something for everyone.

In addition to the many beautiful beaches and exciting activities on the island there is a large number of top award winning vineyards and restaurants to visit.

Waiheke is a renowned wine region that produces critically acclaimed artisan wines and provides distinctive wine and cuisine experiences. Predominantly a red wine region, over half of all wine produced on the island are red varietals. Many of the wines have won awards both internationally and domestically. Getting around the island by car

Have the freedom of exploring at your own pace when you travel with your car on the ferry to Waiheke Island

Arriving at Kennedy Point

Drive off the ferry and head up Donald Bruce road to start your adventure. The Eastern end of the island is not serviced by public transport, this means the roads are quiet and ideal for you to drive.

The loop road is a 55km round trip from Oneroa village so allow a minimum of 2.5 - 4 hours for a trip with stops. We also have a selection of five suggested Waiheke Island Roadtrips for you or help you to make your own.
