Getting to the Wynyard Wharf Terminal
Address: 11 Brigham Street, Wynyard Quarter, Auckland 1010
Wynyard Wharf is situated in the new Wynyard Quarter district in Auckland City approximately a 35-minute drive from the Auckland Airport or a 20 minute walk from the Auckland CBD.
Public transport runs from the airport and all areas of Auckland suburbs into the Britomart Transport Centre. Check out the Auckland Transport's online journey planner for details.
'I love departing and arriving from Wynward wharf, takes heaps of stress off travelling up north when you don't have to drive through rush hour traffic" S Webster.
While we don’t have parking on site, if you're a foot passenger there are many methods of public transport to get into Wynyard Wharf. When entering our terminal on foot, please follow the pedestrian walkway and watch for moving vehicles at all times.
There's a ticketing office if you need to change your sailing time or buy tickets. While waiting for your ferry, there's a comfortable indoor waiting area, equipped with a wheelchair-accessible toilet and a vending machine if you need a cold drink. A bike rack is available at the Wynyard Wharf terminal. Baggage trolleys and a wheelchair are available for passengers to use; just ask one of our team members.
All passengers and vehicles travelling to/from Great Barrier Island should check-in 60 minutes prior to departure.
All passengers and vehicles travelling to/from Waiheke Island should check-in 30 minutes prior to departure. To get everyone loaded and ensure the ferry departs on time, we can’t guarantee passage if you’re running late, and your spot may then be allocated to one of the standby vehicles.
If you're travelling with your vehicle our traffic marshal will greet you as you enter the gate onto the wharf. They'll direct you to park in one of the loading lanes ready to board the ferry. As we often have full sailings we ask that you park as closely as possible behind the car in front of you to allow us to get all travellers into the loading lanes.
If you don't already have a pre-purchased ticket or have extra passengers joining you, then you'll be directed into the ticketing office. Payment can be via cash, EFTPOS or by credit card.
Driving my vehicle on the ferry
If you're travelling to Waiheke Island then we have ferries which you can just drive onto and ferries that you will need to reverse your vehicle on. It will depend on which ferry is operating the service you have booked on.
If you're travelling to Great Barrier Island you'll need to reverse your vehicle onto the ferry. If for some reason, you're unable to reverse your vehicle onto the ferry, our friendly crew will be happy to assist. Please ask for assistance when you talk to our traffic marshal at check-in.
Passengers under 14 years old or those regarded as too young (or not fit to travel alone) must be accompanied by a responsible person at least 14 years or older. We may require the parent/guardian to complete an 'Unaccompanied Minor Application for Travel' form before travel will be allowed. Children under 12 years of age may not travel unaccompanied unless an authorisation form is completed. *Please note that some sailing times may not be available to unaccompanied minors.
